PLATE MAGNETS

Bunting Magnetics Europe has a vast standard range of Plate Magnets to suit any application. Economical to buy, easy to fit or retro fit and available in a large range of standard configurations and magnetic specifications, our Stainless Steel Plate Magnets are the perfect choice for ferrous metal removal in any gravity free fall process.
As part of our “customisation is our standard” philosophy we offer a vast range of options and can design and manufacture a plate magnet to fit your exact specifications.
Bunting Magnetics Plate Magnets are available with Ferrite magnets or with high-intensity permanent Rare Earth magnets that can capture fine metal particles and slightly magnetic debris from powdery, moist, clumpy, or abrasive materials that might choke or wear cartridge-based separators. Plate Magnets are install easily in chutes to remove ferrous fines, as well as large pieces of tramp iron, from many types of free-flowing and pneumatically conveyed material. They can also be installed above conveyors or below conveyor drive pulleys to capture ferrous contaminants as material drops from open belts. Optional installation kits include a pre-drilled hinge, latch, and other hardware to ensure easy mounting. The optional tapered magnetic face is designed where there is rapid product flow to prevent contaminant wipe-off.
A range of standard sizes are held in stock and are available to buy online next day delivery.

Suspended Plate Magnets
Suspended Plate Magnets
Bunting Magnetics Suspended Plate Magnets are designed for suspension above open conveyors to remove ferrous objects and fines found in grains, feedstuffs, raw and processed food products, dry chemicals, and other particulates. In recycling applications, they can be used to capture any ferrous tramp from recycled material before and after it goes through a grinder or shredder. Our specially designed Textile Suspended Plate Magnets are designed to reach across the whole material width, ensuring no ferrous metal is present. These are often fitted prior to a metal detector.
Manufactured from high Grade materials, and supplied with 4 eye lifting bolts, our Suspended Plate Magnets come in a range of standard sizes and magnetic configurations so are suitable for almost any application.
Optional cleaning plates and purpose made sizes are also available.

Plate Housing Magnets
Plate Housing Magnets
Our high quality Stainless Steel Plate Housing Magnets are designed to be resist bridging and choking and to remove tramp iron and ferrous fines from flow-resistant bulk materials by passing the product flow over a top baffle which breaks up any clumps and directs product flow over the unit’s two integrated powerful Plate Magnets.
Engineered to mount easily to enclosed spouting or directly on processing equipment, options include square, rectangular, and round adapters to your specifications for ease of installation. Excellent for coarse, fluffy, and other flow resistant materials that would normally bridge in grates and drawer magnets.

Plate Magnets
Bunting Magnetics’ range of plate magnets are versatile and have plenty of scope when it comes to the applications and industries they can be used in, such as plastics, food, bulk handling and pharmaceutical.
They are used to capture and separate small and large metal contaminants - from fine pieces of ferrous metal through to larger chunks of tramp ferrous metal. The plate magnets are equally suited to removing metals from a range of free flowing materials, including moist, lumpy, abrasive and powdery products as well as larger materials that might cause rapid wear in tube based or magnetic cartridge separators or cause them to choke or bridge.
Thanks to their versatility, these particular magnetic separators can be selected either with very strong, permanent rare earth magnets or with permanent ceramic magnets. In addition, they can be used in both spouting and processing equipment above and below the various product flows. Larger plate magnets, which can be suspended above conveyor belts without any issues, will be needed if the application in question is dealing with bulk solids that are on the heavier side. For those that are seeking to make manual cleaning easier, these magnets have the option of being ordered with hinges attached. With this option, the magnets can be swung away from the product flow to allow cleaning to commence.
Constructed from rugged stainless steel, Bunting’s range of plate magnets can be ordered in sanitary designs. Depending on the application being used, there is also the option of three different magnet face designs, which are:
- Pole Pace – Featuring two exposed pole plates that are designed to attract and hold onto any metal contamination found in low flow applications.
- Tapered Step Face – Will work in high density applications with a fast product flow as the ferrous contaminants are held against the solid tapered step. This design means that any tramp iron and fine ferrous particles won’t wash off.
- Flat Face – Ideally suited to inverted installations, sanitary applications and low density product flows.
Plate Magnets Housing
For use inside enclosed flow lines, Bunting’s standard range of plate magnets are housed inside a stainless steel construction, known as the ‘housing’. Ideally suited to materials that might be damp or moist, that if used in other magnetic cartridge or tube based metal separators, would likely clog, block or bridge.
The housings come with optional adaptors which are intended to make any installation process easier. The housings themselves can be easily mounted to spouting that is enclosed or onto processing equipment directly. Within the housing are two strong Bunting plate magnets featuring a baffle at the top which will help to break up the product flow as well as guide it over the plates, with the aim of achieving the maximum level of ferrous contamination separation. In order to keep the cleaning process simple, the plate magnets are hinged to the housing doors as standard. The plate magnets can be swung out on the hinges and allow manual cleaning to take place without any fuss.
If a self-cleaning model is preferred, these are available in either pneumatic or manual configurations. The pneumatic option can be controlled via a remote and because of this can be installed in areas where manual cleaning would otherwise prove difficult with no easy access available. Meanwhile, the manual self-cleaning model features an interior drawer and it’s this drawer that takes any captured ferrous metals beyond the plate magnets for safe disposal. Whichever self-clean option is chosen, downtime will be reduced and any cleaning costs can be minimised.
Depending on the application, the kind of plate magnet required will vary. Product type, density, burden height, product flow and other considerations will all be things to take into account when choosing the right kind of plate magnet. If you have any questions about any of our magnets, please don’t hesitate to contact us and we will be happy to provide help and guidance.
